List Makers Gonna List
I like to make lists. I’m talking about paper lists on post-it notes and scraps of paper and calendars and apps. I prefer to make them on paper than digitally. There’s something satisfying about crossing them off, or scrunching up the paper and throwing them out when they’re completed.
I have a wise friend who always has a twinkle in her eye. I think it’s because each night she makes a list. But her list is always the same. It’s a list of 3 things she’s thankful for, and it has transformed her whole outlook.
There’s that old song, “Count your blessings name them one by one...Count your blessings see what God has done….”
Why do we count? Because it shifts our grumbling to gratitude.
So often people want to know God’s will in their life, and yet scripture is actually so clear on the basics and we sometimes overthink it. “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
So, for today in particular, here is my Gratitude list:
Sunshine after days of gray
An invitation to dinner with new friends
Grace
What’s your list today? Try it for 1 week and see how it changes your perspective!
